iPhone OS 4.0: Multitasking support hidden away for pre-3GS devices
I don't think it's unreasonable at all for them to disable multitasking on hardware that simply isn't able to handle it well. No one is complaining (at least that I've seen) that first-gen iPhone owners aren't even getting OS 4 support ...
